When it comes to the Internet, a well designed article marketing strategy is vital. Some of the most successful Internet marketers have made their fortunes promoting their businesses employing article marketing day in and day out.

The fact that article marketing works has been proven by such a large number of Internet marketers it’s surprising that more people don’t use it.

To put it in a negative context, there is no Internet niche that can be successfully invaded without a well thought out article marketing strategy. If you are going to go after the fitness niche you better be able to write quality articles about fitness.

However, those who have not attempted article marketing tend to think that it’s harder than it actually is. Here are a few tips to help with your online article marketing.

1. Write Your Own Articles

This is by far the most difficult article marketing strategy for most people to implement.

  • You need to be able to string 400 to 700 words together about a niche topic that is both interesting and helpful.
  • You have to understand keywords and keyword density.
  • Your spelling and grammar need to be at a fairly high level.
  • Your articles need to be indexed by the search engines.
  • Your articles need to be read by your prospects.

If you honestly don’t believe you can write your own articles then the next two article marketing strategies will come as a relief to you.

2. Have Your Articles Ghost Written

Hire someone, preferably a professional writer, to write articles for you, these authors for hire are called, ghost writers.

The typical cost of ghost written articles between 300 and 500 words in length is around $10.00. You can get articles for less but you need to be careful who you hire as there is a great deal of difference in the abilities of the authors.

Another point to remember about article marketing is that the article you write be informative and not a sales letter in disguise. Article directories will reject your articles if they are intended to help you more than the people reading them.

3. Purchase Private Label Rights Articles

You can buy packages of Private Label Rights articles very inexpensively. The obvious advantage to PLR articles is that they are cheaper than buying one article at a time.

Advantage two is that you get a group of them all at once. This allows you to quickly create an info product by batching five to ten closely themed articles together into a PDF you can give away or sell.

The disadvantages of Private Label Rights articles is that more than one person can buy the articles. This means that you have online competition for the same content. Another disadvantage is that most packaged PLR articles are poorly written. That’s one of the reasons why they don’t cost very much.

My advice to you is to get samples of PLR articles before buying a large batch of them or signing up for a monthly subscription to private label rights articles.

4. Article Resource Box

At the end of each your articles you need to include an ‘author resource box.’ A resource box is simply information about the author and usually includes a link to the authors related website, a link to subscribe to a newsletter, and possibly an email address to contact the author. If your article is ghost written, you are still considered the author because you own the rights to the article.

Below the resource box, you should type a statement giving others the right to reprint the article for free, as long as the article is not changed and your author resource box remains intact and is printed with the rest of the article. This gives others permission to print your article on other websites.

Submitting Articles to Online Article Directories

Once your article is ready, you should submit it to article directories, and also send it for consideration to Ezine publishers within your niche. You can find lists of Ezines in the various Ezine directories that are available on the Internet.

Warning: Do not submit PLR articles that you have purchased to article directories or Ezine publishers unless you make substantial to them. Substantial changes may not even be enough. A total rewrite is actually required as the article banks are likely to already have a copy of the article you are trying to submit.

5. Article Submission Programs

There are software programs that can be used to submit your articles in a shorter amount of time. Just Google "article submitter" and you’ll come up with a handful of programs that’ll do the job.

You need to be careful about using automated article submitting programs because some article sites prefer that authors manually submit their articles.

6. Manual Article Submission

There are services that will manually submit articles for you. This is the preferred approach because many article directories do not allow and will not accept articles submitted with software.

Depending on your financial circumstances you will likely submit articles yourself. As your income improves you may choose to hire others to do it for you. By hiring someone else to submit articles for you, you will have more time to concentrate your efforts on producing more articles for marketing your business, or on other marketing tasks.

By implementing these article marketing strategies you will grow your business quickly and profitably.
